Diabetes Awareness & Screening Week

To mark World Diabetes Day (14 November) Somalia NCD alliance has launched a month-long campaign focused on diabetes awareness and early detection. The initiative is carried out in partnership with the@Ministry of Health- Somalia , the Somali Medical Association (SMA), and ALHayat Medical University.

The campaign kicked off with a training and free screening session for university students, where participants received hands-on training in diabetes care and free on-site blood glucose tests.

More than 80 students (60 females and 20 males) benefited from this activity, which strengthened their understanding of diabetes and the importance of early prevention.

This effort forms part of the Alliance’s broader mission to expand public health education, promote early screening, and reduce the growing burden of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in Somalia.
