Today, the Somalia NCD alliance was proud to join the Ministry of Health- Somalia, IRC Somalia, Somali International University, Kalkal Hospital, UK International Development, and organizations of persons with disabilities (PWDOs) in commemorating World Disability Day 2025 at Hotel Afrik, Mogadishu.

The event brought together ๐ ๐จ๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐ฅ๐ž๐š๐๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ, ๐œ๐ข๐ฏ๐ข๐ฅ ๐ฌ๐จ๐œ๐ข๐ž๐ญ๐ฒ, ๐Ž๐๐ƒ๐ฌ, ๐ก๐ž๐š๐ฅ๐ญ๐ก ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐Ÿ๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐š๐ฅ๐ฌ, ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐ฏ๐š๐ญ๐ž ๐ฌ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐จ๐ซ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐ฏ๐ข๐๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ฅ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐ฉ๐š๐ซ๐ญ๐ง๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ to reaffirm our shared commitment to dignity, equity, and the full participation of persons with disabilities in Somaliaโ€™s health and social systems.

From powerful testimonies by PWDO representatives to insightful presentations from health and academic institutions, the message was clear:

โ€œDisability-inclusive health care is not charityโ€”it is a right.โ€

Throughout the event, partners emphasized the urgent need to expand rehabilitation services, strengthen inclusive policies, ensure accessible health insurance, and dismantle social and structural barriers that continue to marginalize people with disabilities.

We echo the call from the

โ€œPersons with disabilities are demanding their rightful place in our health system, our schools, our workforce, and our society. We must act together.โ€
